The timing belt is the belt that controls the camshafts in your engine, opening and closing valves at just the right time for smooth operation. Each model of car can be different as to when it’s recommended the belt be changed, so it’s best to refer to your car’s manual regarding when this should be done. Your mechanic should also let you know if it is due with your service.
Replacing your timing belt can be costly so car owners tend to put it off, but if your timing belt breaks it can cause serious damage to your engine and other components of your car which are very expensive to fix. Prevention is always better than cure; if your timing belt is due to be changed it’s best to have it done to avoid potential damage to your engine.
